This participative course provides detailed safeguarding adults awareness training including essential knowledge in the recognition and reporting of abuse and neglect with respect to local procedures and responsibilities.

The programme is for all members of the workforce involved in Adult Social Care whether from the Health, public, independant or voluntary sector who may come into contact with adults at risk.

  • What adult safeguarding is and why it matters
  • What abuse and neglect are and how to recognise potential signs of different forms of abuse
  • How to recognise unsafe practices in the workplace
  • An overview of safeguarding adults' procedures, roles and responsibilities, including:
    - Context, history and recent developments (the Care Act & Making Safeguarding Personal)
    - Safeguarding Adults Board
    - Mental Capacity Act
    - What a section 42 enquiry is
    - Record keeping
    - The national and local strategies for safeguarding and protection from abuse
  • What to do if you have concerns that someone is being abused and how to respond to concerns of abuse according to agreed ways of working
  • How to raise a concern that abuse and neglect may be taking place
