Course outline:

This is a full day course that provides an awareness of the current legislation requirements and good practice relating to administering medication, or supporting others to administer medication, in a care setting. It will provide attendees with the skills required by care workers* in line with CQC requirements to handle, prepare and administer medications safely and the knowledge of the management of medication, the care worker’s roles and responsibilities and what to do should an error occur.

Any health care worker who may administer medication to service users or who may support service users to manage their own medications will benefit from this course.

*this course will be of particular use to nurses, care assistants and support workers in both residential and domiciliary settings

  • Recording medication administered and monitoring individual's medication

  • Consent and ensuring the individual(s) you support know what they are agreeing in regards to the way in which they are supported
